Excellent ! Over the years I've tried many mealworm feeders - even the really expensive ones couldn't keep starlings out - they could always manage to crane their necks and get to the worms. The high sided dish in the middle of this stops even the most ingenious starling getting to the mealworms. We now have robins, coal tits, blue tits, dunnocks, great tits, sparrows and wrens in and out all day long. They are quite happy to sit in the middle eating mealworms whilst the starlings run around the outside in a fury. We do still feed the starlings and the blackbirds but now the smaller birds get free access to the mealworms. I highly recommend this feeder - it's perfect.

The very best feeder we’ve bought. Like other reviewers we adapted it to add a bowl in the top to keep the rain off. The top lifts off very easily for top up, magpies and squirrels absolutely cannot get in. I am using it for live meal worms and the garden is hectic with little birds in and out every few minutes. Costing me a fortune in worms but we’ve got Great Tits in our nest box with a camera and to see the male bring in a worm from the feeder to the female brooding her eggs is just so uplifting. I’ve put a film clip of the feeder on https://Instagram.com/karabishop.art

Excellent.young sparrows can get in but not starlings which have been a nuisance. To keep rain out I modified the lid from fat ball bucket. Just cut slit out for feeder hanging handle and slip over top. Just the right size. Bingo. . Be careful when getting it down to refill or you’ll get a shower. 😂

Excellent for keeping out unwanted guests, however, the bird-food will get wet. I have modified mine by drilling a hole in the top plate and securing a transparent inverted dome bird bowl inside the cage. I have also added a rubber grommet around the fixing screw to keep out any water seepage.
