Product Details

Swallow nesting bowl in grey ceramic (unglazed) with sustainably-sourced timber mounting board.

Summer swallows are a delightful feature of our countryside and fields, where they can be found hunting their insect prey on the wing.

They like to build their nests in and around barns, garages, stables and outbuildings. You may help these quintessentially English summer migrants by putting up our ready-made nesting bowls to maximise their breeding potential near their hunting grounds.

The bowl's design replicates the shape and form of natural swallow nests.

The nesting bowl should be mounted high up inside the outbuilding with easy access to the outdoors, using the pre-drilled holes in the wooden back plate. Once installed, it should be maintenance free and you can look forward looking up to see the gaping mouths of the youngsters as they wait for returning adults. Totally amazing.

Comments:
For the last few years we have seen swallows trying to build a nest in our car port and then give up. This year they tried for over 4 weeks and only got a splatter of mud to show for their efforts. We think it's just been too dry in spring. So we bought a nest cup and put it up beside their work. Now happily watching the parents feeding 5 hungry chicks! Absolutely brilliant.
