Woodstone Starling Nest Box

Starlings are one of our best loved garden birds, that sadly are now a Red List species due to a significant decline in numbers in the UK and across much of Europe. A reduction in natural cavities and changes to building construction methods, mean that Starling nest sites have become rare, so providing new nesting opportunities is a really positive way to help Starling numbers. Starlings are gregarious birds ( very evident when they are busy at bird feeders! ) and prefer to nest in colonies, so grouping several boxes together will encourage them to adopt the boxes.
Starlings prefer enclosed cavities for nesting, and a 45mm entrance hole is ideal.
This Vivara Pro WoodStone® Starling Nest Box is made from a mixture of concrete and FSC Certified wood fibres. The combination is a breathable material which offers optimum temperature and humidity for its inhabitants. The insulating properties helps regulate internal temperature, keeping chicks warm on cold mornings and cool during hot summer days.
It won’t rot, crack, or deteriorate and comes with a 10 year guarantee.
For the best results, mount these nest boxes at least 2–3 metres high in an open environment with a clear flight path. Use aluminium nails or suitable fixings to minimise any damage to trees.
Once installed and ready for action, attract starlings in to your garden by offering high quality foods that they love, and a filled ( clean ) water bath with be the main attraction! The best way to clean off dusty feathers.
Starlings love all suet based foods like fatballs, suet pellets and suet cakes and also mealworms. Be prepared for your feeders to be very busy!
