Hibernation is a key part of hedgehogs lives and it is crucial that they find a safe and sheltered place to get through the long cold winter sucessfully. This basket acts as an imitation to a natural nest which will be really attractive to a hedgehog as winter approaches. As our gardens become tidier, there are far fewer 'messy areas' for hedghogs to find winter homes, so this woven wicker basket will act as a good imitation.
Place the hedgehog basket on a dry surface in a sheltered and quiet place in the garden. Put some loose leaves in the basket. Then cover the basket with a thick layer of leaves, branches, moss and other natural materials. Leave the opening free and try to make sure that it's not facing north or northeast.
