Waxworms are a delicious treat enjoyed by all manner of wild garden birds, both fully grown and those that are still fledging. Waxworms are an excellent source of easily digestible protein and also have a relatively high water content, making them a nutritious and delicious snack!

Waxworms should be stored in the well-ventilated container they arrive in. If there is any condensation build up on the inside of the container which has happened during shipping, please wipe this condensation away as this can reduce the life of the wax worms.

Live wax worms are best stored (in low humidity) at temperatures between 55°F and 65°F. Please do not freeze them. When wax worms are cold they can appear lifeless. Warm them up gradually and they will regain their normal texture and vitality. If the wax worms are kept in conditions that are too warm, they will pupate and turn into moths. In addition, please avoid direct contact with sunlight.

Although great care is taken when the live wax worms are packed, it is inevitable that some may die during the packing and shipping process. If there are any black waxworms in the tub on arrival, please remove them from the container and discard. This will reduce the chances of the other live wax worms being affected.
