Product Details

The Little Lantern wild bird seed feeder is a clever little feeder, designed to favour the small species that will happily cling to feed. The larger birds may try to perch on this lantern seed feeder, but they will find it awkward and soon give up!

Filling this lantern bird feeder is easy by just twisting the top - it has approximatly 0.9 litres capacity for your seed mixes. The feeder base also comes off for cleaning.

This is the second Little Lantern feeder I've purchased because the first one was so effective. The big birds cannot get into it. Our jackdaws have worked out that if they swing on it, they can shake a little bit of food out onto the ground, but it takes them a lot of effort, so as long as there is some other food elsewhere in the garden for them, they leave this feeder alone. Our little birds enjoy feeding in peace, and we enjoy watching them without having them chased away by the big birds. It's a bit more expensive than some of the other feeders, but well worth the money if you want to encourage smaller birds.

This has worked brilliantly at providing a safe feeding space for our smaller birds. The larger birds have worked out that they can't get into it, so as long as I keep the other feeder topped up at the other end of the garden, they leave this one alone, so the little ones can feed in peace. (If the other feeder empties, they will swing on this one to shake the seed out onto the ground, so I do need to make sure the other feeder stays topped up!)

I've had to buy another mall bird feeder as the starling are chasing away the little ones. My old one I had for years and it fell apart! Can't wait for it to arrive!
