National Trust Robin and Wren Nest Box

This sustainably sourced nest box is beautifully designed and would make a great addition to any garden! It features a large wide opening at the front of the box making it attractive for both robins and wrens. As well as providing a spot for the birds to raise their family, it can also provide essential shelter in the cold winter months.
Open fronted Nest boxes for robins and wrens need to be lower, ideally below 2m and well camouflaged with vegetation. Wren nest boxes should be hung close to the ground - they prefer to hop through the undergrowth and shady places such as hedges, thickets, bushes, and heavily overgrown areas. Open fronted nest boxes for flycatchers need to be 2 – 4 metres high in a sheltered position but with clear visibility. Face between North & East to avoid extremes of weather, sun, rain and wind. Tilt the box forward a bit to reduce heavy rain hitting the entrance hole. Never place a nest box facing south.
