National Nestbox Week will take place on 14th - 21st February 2025. This annual event aims to encourage as many people as possible to install bird nesting boxes in their gardens, and if you want to get in on the fun, Really Wild Bird Food can help.

Why put up a nest box?
Nest boxes give wild birds a cosy home in which to rear their offspring.
UK birds are currently short of nesting holes, and population numbers are decreasing as a result of this avian housing shortage. Gardens, parks and woodlands are neater and tidier than they used to be, giving birds fewer natural holes to nest in. New-build homes are also part of the problem because they have fewer suitable nooks and crannies.
But don't despair - you can do your bit to help, and putting up a nest box or two is a great place to start!
Common nesters include...
- Blue tits
- Great tits
- House sparrows
- Robins
- Starlings
...but installing a nest box will also boost your chances of attracting rarer species to your garden!
Even though it's only February, we are already starting to see lots of activity in and around the farm as birds scope out the best nesting locations to raise a family. So we strongly recommend putting up your own nest box ASAP!
